It started at an Airbnb in Vermont during COVID. Craft beers, Lake Champlain, Autumnal foliage, infants and pregnant wives, an unexpected lawsuit, and the purchase of www.lifebloodcapital.com led to the origin story of Lifeblood, the Executive Search Firm for small to medium-sized MedTech companies.
Giovanni Lauricella and Joseph Snyder co-founded Lifeblood on January 1, 2022 in Delray Beach, Florida after a decade at The Mullings Group where we started and established the international and container search practice.
Initially, our company was called Lifeblood Capital because we validated on our MedTech Money podcast with over 125 episodes that people are the lifeblood of companies, and we envisioned raising a venture capital fund after we successfully introduced MedTech companies to investors that led to over $500M in raised funds. We quickly realized that we did not want to raise a venture fund and finally bought www.lifeblood.com after 16 months of negotiations, which led us to dropping “Capital” from our name. In addition to a name change, we relocated. We moved to Houston, Texas because it is centrally located in The United States with a hyper-connected airport that supports our global practice, has the largest medical center in the world, a rich ecosystem for MedTech innovation and commercialization, and an excellent foundation to raise our families and build our team. No state income taxes and the barbeque certainly helped.
As we continued our progress, we tried many things that we thought would support our executive recruitment practice by adding value to our clients. It turned out that they were educational distractions. What we have learned is location matters, focus is important, investing into the company is crucial, and having a value proposition and differentiator is vital.
Lifeblood has always been and will always be a talent recruitment firm that supports MedTech companies, yet over the years we took chances on business advisory consulting, fundraising support, and media outlets. They became a dilution of our core brand of being a talent recruitment firm. We have learned to stay in our lane of expertise and choose our partners wisely.
Today, Lifeblood is based in The Woodlands, Texas and is an Executive Search firm for small and medium-sized MedTech companies. Our business is built on two decades of hiring experience, extensive global networks, advanced communication technologies, and a passionate team. We also host global events and conferences that showcase our network and ability to recruit MedTech professionals into venues that add value to our community and clients. You can find more about our next MedTech CEO-Only Forum or Houston MedTech Conference on this website.
After more than 15 years of experience, 50+ countries, 2,000+ hires, and curating dozens of events, you can imagine this story having more colorful language. It was originally written in much longer and greater detail as the lessons and blessings are seemingly endless. If you want to know the long version, reach out. We would be glad to deepen our relationship, share our story, and learn yours. For us, it has been a long and learned road since that Airbnb in Vermont, and we are just getting started...from Texas.
